Materials: Thermalite is made from West's Limestone Based Neoprene.The process of making neoprene involves melting down neoprene chips which can be petroleum based or limestone based. West uses limestone based neoprene chips which reduce our dependence on oil and associated environmental impacts involved with drilling and refining of oil. West does not claim that using limestone based neoprene will not reduce the overall environmental impact of wetsuit production, but it is a start and a move away from oil-dependence and experimenting with viable alternatives.
