Echo Beach is a documentary style film with a focus on Newport Beach, California’s evolution into the multi mullion dollar market it is today. Beginning with historical footage and stills of wooden mal riding, where the likes of the stoic Duke Kahanamoku introduce the gift of wave riding to California’s shores, through to the shortboard revolution, and the hand-in-hand fashion, music, pop culture & attitude of the 1980′s.

Personal stories from industry leaders including Bob McKnight, Jeff Yokoyama, and Bob Hurley, the new guard of surfers Danny Kwock, John Gothard, Jeff Parker, and Preston Murray, shapers/designers Lance Collins, Shawn Stussy, Peter Schroff and Greg Pautsch, photographers and musicians of the day will paint the picture of this high energy period in which new ground was broken in and out of the water. The film, co-produced by Stefan Jeremias and Jeff Parker, will document this spirit of innovation and the resonance it has had on surfing and youth culture.
