Bio Wood Varnish 1 Litre
Bio varnish is suitable for sealing Alaias and other wooden surfboards. It is an eco friendly and non toxic product which will give your board a great looking semi-permanent glossy finish. The 1 litre can is enough to do up to 4 or 5 Alaias depending on how many coats you do.
DESCRIPTION
A hard, elastic, semi-transparent varnish for use on timber surfaces exposed to sun and rain. It is resistant to dirt and moisture.
APPLICATION
Stir thoroughly before use with a broad flat stirrer. Brush thinly and evenly working varnish well into the grain. Maintain a wet edge when painting.Thick coats wrinkle when dry. Avoid bubbles. Lightly sand between coats if necessary with fine sandpaper. Allow 12 to 24 hours to dry between coats. Low temperatures and humid conditions prolong the drying time. Apply second and subsequent coats only after previous coat has thoroughly dried. Do not use below +10C; and/or above 80% humidity; in cold damp conditions; when condensation, rain, dew or frost are likely to occur; on hot days; in direct sunlight; or on hot surfaces. Provide adequate ventilation during application and drying. Reaches maximum durability after 8-14 days.
Re-coating is recommended after approximately 2 or 3 years, depending on the exposure to the weather.
INGREDIENTS
Based on modified plant oil, wood oil, rosin, titanium dioxide, mica, silica, bentone, soja lecithin, UV-protector, paraffin oil, lemon peel oil, pine oil and lead-free drying agents.

Bio Varnish
Hi
Is this varnish enough to finish a balsa board without resin ?
Do you ship overseas to Europe ?

Balsa is a very soft timber so it usually needs some kind of resin to make it hard enough to surf. This varnish is more for waterproofing than providing any extra strength. We can ship anywhere, if you email us we will get a quote for you. Thanks.

Does the Bio Varnish add an abrasive resistance to the surface of a timber board? As the Paulownia is very soft and is easily dented with heel marks and finger nails.
BioVarnish
Hi Rivs, yes it does provide some resistance to denting - less than an epoxy resin would, but more than just an oiled finish. If you apply more than 3-4 coats it builds up quite thick and provides more resistance. Hope that helps. Grant.
