Surfrider Foundation

The Surfrider Foundation was set up with the aim of preserving and protecting Australia’s oceans for the enjoyment of all. With 29 branches across Australia, members are encouraged to participate and be active within their local branch.

Their focus is on a few key issues including Stormwater and Sewage Pollution, Water Quality Improvement, Reserve Management and Education and Campaigning Activities. In the past the Surfrider Foundation has played an important role in campaigning against coastal developments and sewage outlets. In its ongoing study – “Human Impact on Australian Beaches” Surfrider is building an information database and presenting resources to show the current state of our beaches and the damage that we are doing to Australia’s coastline.

You can get amongst the action by joining the organisation and being involved in your local branch.

Surfrider relies on the support of members and you can join online at www.surfrider.org.au.
