Surf Aid international

SurfAid was founded by Australian doctor and surfer Dave Jenkins. On a surf trip to discover the magical waves of the Mentawai Islands off the west coast of Sumatra in Indonesia, not only did Dave find the perfect waves he was looking for, he also witnessed first hand the alarming rate of death and disease associated with malaria and other easily preventable conditions. On his return, Dave decided to start SurfAid and dedicated his life to improving the health conditions and infrastructure of isolated communities that are frequented by surfers.

Targeting disease such as malaria, measles and tetanus, SurfAid gathered a team of volunteers and set about improving the health and well-being of families around the world. SurfAid has established a successful network of sponsors, volunteers and local community partners around the world who are committed to the cause.

SurfAid has had enormous amounts of success with their Community-Based Health Program and Emergency Preparedness Projects, working in over 50 targeted Areas in the Mentawais as well as other countries including Cambodia and Mozambique. To date they have administered over 23,000 immunisations and in some areas have cut the malaria rate by 75%.

SurfAid relies on sponsorship from corporate and retail partners as well as individual donations. You can help SurfAid by donating and supporting products that support SurfAid.
